Community Art Project

The Kite of Dreams

During the summer of 2011, I was helping a friend of mine with her new business. She was asked to participate in a town fair and they had requested that she provide a community art project. Below are pictures of the project that was a concept that I came up with. The actual piece was constructed by an artist colleague of mine Charles Maxwell, [ HardwoodClocks.com ] who is an artisan craftsman creating wooden clocks. The concept was a box kite with a tail that we invited people to write a dream or wish on small slips of paper that were woven into the tail of the kite. Participants could also choice strips of fabric to weave through the open grid fabric of the kite.
